Scott Mallon of Far East Photos is a member of the Boxing Writers Association of America, Ring Magazine’s Rating Panel, Yahoo’s Boxing Rating Panel and is an editor for BoxRec.com. He’s written and provided photos for HBO Sports, The Bangkok Post, Ring Magazine, Boxing Digest, Boxing News, Fight News, The Fist, TheSweetScience.com, Black Belt, The Phuket Gazette, Mandala Magazine, the Muay Lok, the Irrawaddy News Magazine, as well as several other publications.

In 2007 he received the Boxing Writers Association of America’s prestigious 2007 Barney Award for Investigative Reporting. He now lives in Bangkok, Thailand with his wife Benjamas and their two children.

1. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, more specifically Miami Lakes, a town in which Harry Wayne Casey of KC and the Sunshine Band once lived.

2. Has lived in Thailand for 13 years as of November 2008. Moved to the country to get to know himself better and to train in Muay Thai.

3. Favorite Author – Ernest Hemingway (The Snows of Kilimanjaro, Old Man and the Sea, A Farewell to Arms)

4. Favorite Movie – Salvador (James Woods, Jim Belushi)

5. Favorite Boxing Book – a tie between The Sweet Science by A.J. Leibling, and The Fight, by Norman Mailer.

6. Favorite Alcoholic Beverage – Tequila

7. Favorite Beers – Guinness and Corona

8. Bumped into Sugar Ray Leonard and Tommy Hearns within minutes of each other while walking through Caesars Palace.

9. Was in attendance for the classic Evander Holyfield-Riddick Bowe battle in 1992 .

10. Was at the first Michael Carbajal-Humberto Gonzalez fight in 1993, a spectacular war in which Carbajal was knocked down twice, then came back to knock out Gonzalez in round seven.

11. Once shook hands with Richard Nixon.

12. Co-starred in the 2000 movie Jerks with Sarah Wynter (Sex and the City, The 6th Day, 24) and Emmanuel Xuereb (Bad Boys, Smith) and traveled to Cannes, France to assist in promoting the film. Met and had a group dinner with O.C. hottie Mischa Barton.

13. Appeared as a boxing expert in Black Roses of Bangkok, a documentary about Samson Sor Siriporn, the first woman to win a world title while incarcerated. The film was shown on the National Geographic Channel.

14. Worked as a consultant in he unreleased movie, Fight Night in Chiang Mai. The movie chronicled the lives of several Muay Thai and Leth Wei (Burmese boxing) fighters. The Burmese and Thai fought each other in special bare-knuckle bouts in Chiang Mai’s Gawila Stadium.

15. One of only two foreigners ever granted press passes to Lumpini and Rajdamnern Stadiums.

16. Lived in the same apartment complex as former WBA heavyweight champion Mike “Hercules” Weaver in Diamond Bar, California.

17. Was the only foreign journalist in attendance at the March 2006 fight between Juan Manuel Marquez – and Chris John in Borneo, Indonesia.
