It’s nearly 10 PM and I’m still up, writing, making phone calls, and figuring out my schedule for tomorrow. Today was busy and the next 2-3 months will only get busier.
There’s a chance Indonesian fighter and WBA Featherweight champion of the world, Chris John, will fight Chonlatarn Piryapinyo of Thailand. It’s all about the money; if the Thai’s come up with the dough – around $250,000K for the purses +++, who knows, the fight might get made. Money talks, period. You never know in boxing though…
Tomorrow I’ll be leaving at 5 AM for a press conference in Pattaya. The press conference starts at noon but I’m meeting and interviewing Kru Yodtong, the trainer of numerous Muay Thai champions and boxers, Yodsanan Sor Nanthachai and Samart Payakarun included.
The press conference is for a bout between Yodsanan and Jimrex Jaca, and also Saddam Kietyongyuth. Not sure who Saddam’s fighting. Yodsanan should be able to dispatch of Jaca – my guess is sometime between round 7 and 9. Jaca is experienced and good; he gave Marquez all he could handle but…that was at 126 lbs. This fight is at 140 lbs, possibly higher. Yodsanan has a helluva punch and is equally or more experienced as Jaca so I expect him to wear down Jaca and win via KO. I just don’t see Jaca fending off the “Thai Tyson.”
No book is going to put odds on this fight but if they did, I’d expect the odds to be:
Yodsanan -1100
Jaca + 750
In my opinion that’s generous…
I’ll be interviewing Yodsanan and we should have plenty to talk about.
Anyhow, I’ve got lot’s more to write about but don’t have much time. I suspect I’ll get to sleep somewhere around midnight, 1 AM, and I need to wake-up at 5 AM, walk down the street, get my M-150 energy drink from 7′11, catch a taxi to the subway, take the subway to the train station, then meet my ride to Pattaya at 7 AM.
It’s gonna be a long day.

Rowan Atkinson, or as he is more commonly known, Mr. Bean, has been a favorite of mine for many years. I took a trip to England around 20 years ago and first saw him in The Black Adder and have liked him ever since. Mr. Bean’s Holiday is showing on HBO right now and like almost every night, I’m up late so I’m sort of half watching it. Most nights I go to sleep around 2 or 3 AM and wake around 7 or 8. It looks like tonight won’t be any different.
A few weeks ago, one of the guys I know at ESPN contacted me and gave me a lead on a client. Quite nice of him really – note to self, buy him a beer or two next time I see him. It’s taken a little while, as it almost always does, but I just finished sending them 4 photos (boxing) to use in a magazine article. They don’t pay as well as HBO but then again, not many places do. I’m always anxious to see how my photos look in an article and hopefully, in the next month or two I’ll get a copy of the magazine.
Before I hit the sack I want to send out a couple of emails and read a little. Tomorrow I need to write a a couple of pages (boxing), make some revisions to the expat book I wrote recently, and pick up some cash. I also need to work out my schedule, make a few phone calls about raising some money to go to the Olympics, and send out around 10 e-mails. Buy some groceries, hit Starbucks, and buy Adobe Photoshop CS3 from the local software store. Seems I lost the disc and for whatever reason, the program is asking me for the serial number and I haven’t got any idea what it is. Without Photoshop – I feel incomplete.
I’ll also try to reach Craig Christian, Chris John’s trainer, call Petchyindee Boxing about Oleydong Sithsamerchai’s title fight in Phuket on the 27th, call Eddy, Samson Sor Siriporn’s manager about the press conference on the 21st in Pattaya for Yodsanan Sor Nanthachai and Saddam Kietyongyuth’s fight on the 27th. Plus I need to contact ALA Boxing and Sammi Gello-ani, spend a little time with my kids, and hopefully add watermarks to some photos and then upload them to Flickr. I know there’s something else I’m forgetting but…must not be important.
